Upset security personnel seeks DAP's help for unpaid salaries

Sri Aman: DAP Sri Aman today received a complaint from a group of very upset gentlemen coming from Batu Lintang Undup. They were complaining that they have not received their salaries for four months from their employer Locvest Security Sdn Bhd.

Mr Ragom, representing the 22 employees of the security firm, has said they tried all possible avenues to get the attention of their employers which is based in Selangor. They have tried to contact & complain thru the Labor Department but were advised that there is not much Labor Department can do at the moment.

After much discussion with his colleagues, Mr Ragom seeked the help of Leon Jimat Donald, DAP Sarawak Vice Chairman.

'After consulting these gentlemen, I will try to help them by writing a demand letter to their employer seeking their explanation and for them to hurry the salaries of these 22 gentlemen who has not received their salaries for nearly 4 months,' said Leon Donald.

'We will give 14 days for the security company to pay the employees salaries in full as they are in hardship as they have families to feed & bills to pay, failing that, we will seek other avenues,' Leon added.

'This is why we need education autonomy in our state where it involves not only the standard  of education but also the State management of schools where security contracts such as this should never be awarded to Malayan Companies as they will never understand the needs and the situation on the  ground & in the case of problems such as this; it is so hard to find these companies as they are based in Malaya, the awarding of small local contracts to Malayan companies must end,' said Leon Jimat Donald DAP Sarawak Vice Chairman.

The affected security employees were from sekolah sk.paku, sjk chung hua undop, sk batu lintang & smk.st luke.

DAP Sri Aman had hosted a successful 2 day health camp in San Demam Longhouse on last Saturday & Sunday.

A total of 197 patients came and were treated by a team of 4 doctors that were led by Dato' Dr Lim  Seh Guan, an Ear Nose & Throat Specialist & 3 Dentists.

"They were attempts to sabotage our event, our banners were destroyed, posters torn, but thank God, common sense prevailed, the longhouse people still came & sought treatment", said Leon Jimat Donald.

"The big turnout by the longhouse folks was a big surprise to us all and we from DAP Sri Aman were very thankful that the doctors & volunteers could cope; this clearly shows that the rural populace is aware of their health and they are in dire need of good medical services. This service is the responsibility & should have been done by this Government of the day but alas, our 'new' hospital doesn't seem to be getting built anytime soon. Our local assemblyman is only interested in polictiking & our MP silence on the hospital issue is deafening. The rakyats health needs does not seem important in their list of priorities. It is really sad that the rakyat of Sri Aman are made to suffer," exclaimed Leon Jimat Donald, DAP Sarawak Vice Chairman.

The dental clinic was the most frequently visited as the dentists' reported that they extracted more than 200 tooths.

For example in Sri Aman, we have the Police Department & Sri Aman Hospital led Malayans for more than 7 years. They have nevertheless gave a very good service to the folks in Sri Aman but its about time for local Sarawakians to lead!'

'I would like to suggest to CM Adenan that DAP being a national party has local Sarawakians leading it in Sarawak, why can't the Borneonisation of Sarawak begin with the priority given to lead these government departments must be Sarawakians, as they have better knowledge & understanding of local issues,' said Leon Jimat Donald DAP Sarawak Vice Chairman.

'Under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, the Borneonisation of the civil service should have taken place but 52 after the agreement, the number of Sarawakians getting the responsibility to lead government departments has diminished drastically, this must end', he added.
